Australia imports approximately 90% of its liquid fuels which is a vulnerability now firmly on the national agenda. At the same time, global demand for low carbon liquid fuels is accelerating, driven by decarbonisation commitments, government policy, and hard-to-electrify sectors that will depend on drop-in fuels for decades to come.

 

Liquid Power is positioned at the intersection of these powerful forces. Liquid Power is building an integrated platform for the production of low carbon liquid fuels across Australia combining proven technology, secured feedstock, and strategically located projects to deliver domestic fuel production at a scale that matters.

 

Our feedstock advantage is significant. Australia generates substantial volumes of sorted, specified, high-biogenic engineered fuel, a consistent, contracted resource available year-round and located close to our production sites.

 

At the heart of our process is the Gasification Fischer-Tropsch (G-FT) pathway which is a globally proven technology that converts engineered feedstock into pure, high-quality hydrocarbons. G-FT gives Liquid Power the flexibility to produce sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel, or both adapting to market demand while consistently delivering the carbon reductions, fuel security and fuel performance our customers and regulators require.

 

Our cornerstone project is located in Queensland, with a growing project pipeline across South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria strategically positioned to serve the sectors that demand low carbon fuel the most.

Western Downs Clean Fuels

The Western Downs Clean Fuels (WDCF) project is Liquid Power’s cornerstone project, located within a dedicated heavy industry precinct in the Western Downs Region of south-east Queensland.

The WDCF project is designed to produce over 45 ML per annum of low carbon liquid fuels (LCLF) in Stage 1, with the ability to scale to more than 145 ML per annum across future stages making it one of the most significant low carbon fuels projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

The project is strengthened by fully contracted feedstock and optimised for maximum LCLF yield, delivering meaningful and measurable carbon reduction for customers across aviation, ground transport and other industrial sectors.

A defining commercial advantage of the WDCF project is its production of true drop-in fuels requiring no modification to existing engines, equipment or distribution infrastructure. Customers can decarbonise immediately, without capital expenditure or operational disruption.

Beyond its commercial mandate, the WDCF project is structured to deliver lasting regional impact becoming a significant employer and a long-term economic contributor to the Western Downs community.

PROJECT PIPELINE

Liquid Power’s pipeline of projects will be based on the same feedstock and technology pathway, benefiting from the project and engineering development for the WDCF project, providing a repeatable and scalable platform for domestic low carbon liquid fuels production. The platform nature unpins significant savings in development and capital expenditure and our pathway to production of low carbon liquid fuels that are competitive with other low carbon liquid fuels and conventional liquid fuels.

South Australia

Our South Australian project opportunity will be located in an existing industrial precinct in Adelaide, South Australia. The South Australia project will be sized to the WDCF project to maximise learnings and will also benefit from an optimised location near existing infrastructure.
